Stevie and Sheryl in Central Park
As you probably know, Stevie performed at the Sheryl Crow and
Friends benefit concert on September 14th. The concert benefited
Pediatric AIDS and included Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Sarah
McLachlan, Chrissie Hynde, the Dixie Chicks and others. It was
broadcast live on TV, radio and the Internet. Stevie sang Gold Dust
Woman with Sheryl and her band backing her.
The New York Post said "...it was Nicks, Crow's second guest, who
rallied the fans"
Stevie was in fine form, and received a great welcome from the
crowd.
The Musician's Planet had the following to say about the progress of
the album in an article with Sheryl Crow:
Sheryl's already pleased with some of the results. "Lindsey
Buckingham [also of Fleetwood Mac and solo fame] came in for one
track," she reports. "He's amazing; pretty close to perfect. Any
guitar he picks up, you can identify his playing immediately." Sheryl
hopes to be able to produce the entire record before the year's end,
but she regretfully acknowledges that she may have to share the
producer spot if the sessions pick up again after May, as she's
already committed to being out on the road.

Grammys
Sheryl Crow was interviewed on the red
carpet going into the Grammy's and had
the following to say about Stevie:
(Interviewer) Sheryl, you've also been doing some
producing, I know you did Stevie Nicks. What's it
like, what does it mean to take on the role of a
producer? Especially for an artist like Stevie?
(Sheryl) "Well Stevie, Stevie is kind of an exception to
the role because she has a 30 year career behind
her....obviously. And the nice thing about, one of -
there's so many nice things about Stevie....but Stevie
is a great songwriter and she approaches things
musically..... but the really exceptional thing about her
is when she shows up, she's there from beginning to
end, uh, ready to work, or hang or whatever. And it's
just really, as producer, it's really really nice."

Practical Magic
Practical Magic is the
new Sandra Bullock movie.
the soundtrack is available in
stores now. Stevie has two
songs on the soundtrack,
Crystal and If You Ever Did
Believe. Crystal is a
Fleetwood Mac song that was re-recorded
for the soundtrack with Stevie singing lead
vocals. If You Ever Did Believe originally
appeared on the 1981 Louise Goffin
self-titled album. Both songs were written
by Stevie Nicks and were produced for this
soundtrack by Sheryl Crow. There is a video
and a single for If You Ever Did Believe and
both are getting good airtime on VH1 and
the radio. Crystal is played during the movie
twice (instrumental early and vocals later),
and If You Ever Did Believe is played during
the credits at the end.
STEVIE NICKS "If You Ever Did Believe"
(Warner Bros.) With a wink and a nod, this emblem of
throaty-voiced, witchy-garbed moon-goddessness has written
a new single for the Practical Magic soundtrack. From the
opening acoustic guitar picking, Nicks' "Baby don't leave me"
song has the comfort of vintage Fleetwood Mac, with top
notch vocal and production assists from kindred spirit Sheryl
Crow. When Nicks sings, "I don't think I can handle this at all,"
she casts a spell of womanly yearning. A- -Beth Johnson
